ALL DAY WEDDING WORKSHOP with RICH MILLER

This day-long wedding photography workshop will dive into the small details.  We will have a bride in a wedding dress and a groom in his suit.  Leading the workshop is photographer Rich Miller, who will demonstrate and teach his approach to photographing weddings, everything from details, portraiture, posing, and lighting. Miller, with an award-winning, 25-year career as a photojournalist with the Indianapolis Star/News and now having photographed over 850 weddings, will parlay that experience into this teaching role.  The class will meet at Roberts Camera, 220 E. St. Claire St Indianapolis, IN.

• Photographing Details 

• Getting ready/ hair, makeup

• Portraiture of bride and groom

• Lighting for portraits

• Touch lightly on reception coverage

• The emphasis will on shooting a wedding and less on the business side of wedding photography. 

• Marketing, pricing, contracts, etc., will be discussed very briefly.

Who is this class for?

This workshop is geared for photographers who want to learn more about photographing weddings.  Whether you’re wanting to break into the wedding arena or you are an experienced pro wanting to take your imagery to the next level, this class will have something to offer.  We will shoot the must-have, safe shots, and then go beyond the basics and try new things, with an emphasis on creative lighting and poses. Miller will demonstrate how he shoots, and we should plenty of time for each student to try a setup of his/her own.  

Schedule and Format

10am-noon

At noon, we will break for lunch.

1pm-4:00pm

We will reconvene at 1pm and photograph models.  We can take models to nearby downtown locations to shoot, rain or shine (just like a real wedding).  We will wrap shooting around 4:30, and head back to Roberts.  If you wish, you can stay for a quick critique on your photographs by Miller.  

What to Bring:

• Camera (make sure your battery is fully charged), 

• Your favorite lenses, 

• Speedlights and other light modifiers if you have them.  

• Laptop to download your images. (optional)
