ENHANCE, MASKING, TRANSFORM, AND LESS COMMONLY USED TOOLS IN LIGHTROOM

This class requires Adobe Lightroom Classic (LrC) version 11.1 software or later and basic knowledge of the Lightroom Develop Module editing tools. (Please note that other versions of Lightroom will not be addressed or utilized.) Five (or more) photos will be edited in class using less common, recently released tools including Enhance, Masking, Tone Curve, Transform, Effects, Profiles, Presets; as well as many of the more commonly used editing tools. Class notes, photos, and a preloaded Lightroom Catalog will be sent via a Dropbox or similar link prior to class. A Zoom link will also be sent via email prior to the start of class. These files must be downloaded before class and the LrC catalog LrC.lrcat should be opened by double-clicking on the LrC.lrcat file. This will open Lightroom with the preloaded photos. This approach will keep your existing LrC catalog, presets, and photo files pristine.

Online students can play along with one of the following setups: EITHER, use two screens hooked to your computer with the Zoom interface on one and LRC on the other…OR, use two computers with the Zoom interface on one and LRC on the other.

Q&A is encouraged during this online class. Ron will also field questions throughout the class. He will also be happy to look at your images if time allows.

Ron Shimanek Bio 2022

Ron has experience as an electronic design engineer, project manager, and quality systems director who has been associated with photography as a hobby since high school more than 60 years ago. He has taken photos in 30 countries during the past 40 years. He has used dozens of cameras (both film and digital), has utilized his own wet darkroom, and has focused strictly on the digital format since 2000. Lightroom is his editing software of choice, but he also uses Photoshop to fill in the gaps that LRC doesn’t cover.

Ron has taught electronics, math, self help classes, and photography throughout his entire career. Currently, he shares his knowledge with various camera clubs via Zoom and through live classes. Teaching experience includes: Wisconsin School of Electronics, Ivy Tech – Kokomo, IU Kokomo, Delphi Electronics, and numerous camera clubs in Danville, Indiana.
